UNLEASHING POWER IN A PEN…through Writing, Editing & Sharing. As knowledge and experience accumulate those skills can shift the foundation of your beliefs from unstable external influences to practiced internal desires. This will free your thoughts from being externally triggered to being internally selected. Use your feelings to measure your progress as you practice shifting them positively. The shift of focus/actions from external results to internal capacity creates permanent & satisfying upgrades from temporarily gratifying accomplishments. WRITING. EDITING. SHARING. Each has a place/when, pace/how, & purpose/why. Mastery requires practice - practice, practice, practice. If it is not fun, satisfying, or soothing…it will be difficult to establish, let alone maintain…consistency, the cornerstone of the practice that leads to mastery. Often the focus on a past or future moment, blurs the experience of writing or the satisfaction of editing in the present moment. WRITING can be used as a tool for developing internal capacity, to practice tracking, pushing projects into completion. From therapeutic gentle morning routine style preventative-progressive preparation of thought…to violent, chaotic gut-wrenching purges of words spewing from fingertips like vomit in the middle of night. Use writing as a practice for systematic and habitual affirmations. Use it to track data for change, meeting goals or making progress on projects. It can be non-sensical, mis-spelled and violate all the rules of grammar. Writing is a tool to capture thoughts captive, for future analysis (or not). Write in the AM as close to waking as possible to tap into subconscious flow before the day begins to fill the mind with the noise of thoughts it brings. Write notes throughout the day in all appropriate places. Write in the PM to close the day, empty and encourage the mind to rest, the body to heal. Write if you wake in the middle of the night till you receive a signal that you can go back to sleep. A triggered yawn lets you know most of the thoughts are out of the mind and you can get back to them later, if necessary. Remind yourself till it flows...Writing is NOT...Editing or Sharing! The placement of thoughts on paper removes some of the weight from the mind and their charge in the body, to allow you to look at them, then question their validity/value for repetition or release. As the load lightens, thoughts clear and mood lifts; life becomes easier to manage…and more pleasurable. Use Writing in ways that help you…do not let your Writing use and abuse you. EDITING as a practice to obtain clarity on words, ideas, and concepts is priceless for developing self, professional capacity and accomplishing personal goals. If Writing is to get it out…Editing is the attempt at extracting understanding from Writing (when possible and helpful). Editing is the process of curating a piece from your collection of Writing to create and or complete specific ideas, concepts, or to process. It is the craft of converting Writing into clear communication, for the self…Sharing is optional! Editing is a practice of creating value from Writing. It creates value in the form of clarity for the self during the process, then assisting those with whom it is shared in establishing clarity for themselves. That is why one key to Editing is to think through what you might be Sharing, with whom and why. The most important objective of organizing Writing…you know what you have and can access it quickly, reliably. Editing can be made easier by the system you use to collect your writing. Create a system for capturing, storing, and working on your Writing continuously. Spreadsheet style programs are very helpful for the curating of content. Extract relevant ideas from journals, group them appropriately, then complete for comprehensiveness of messaging and etiquette. As your Writing becomes more organized, Editing becomes easier and happens faster. As writing clarity improves, thought clarity improves, peace settles in, progress becomes more evident…to self…then others. SHARING occurs at the point of release, not receipt. Limit your satisfaction to that point of release…to adjust from that point, backwards. Focus on learning and improving capacity, quality, etc. internally from observing external results vs establishing your measure of satisfaction internally from external results. Sharing is personalizing what you are Editing for specific audiences and purposes. This is when and where any concerns about receipt satisfaction are addressed. This is as much art, as it is skill, as it is science. By default, this will keep your focus on your side of the street; you will get the most return on investment on your attention. Over time, as you increase your joy of Writing, your ease of organization and your skills at Editing/Sharing…release and receipt satisfaction can and will synergize in your diligent practice...and bring you great peace. Most of all, it cannot be stressed enough…ENJOY THE PROCESS of creating your systems for Writing, Editing and Sharing. This will maximize effectiveness, therapeutic value, chances of success and the fun you have during as well as after. As Sharing mastery grows, it can and maybe should be fun, really, really, fun. Especially since we are living as growing children in a sandcastle universe, with atoms as the sand that flows in and out of consciousness, through sense-based boundaries of perception and manipulation…js!
