Capturing thoughts captive begins with slowing the roll of emotions. Breathing, stretching and moving are the quickest in effectiveness to shift emotions and subjectively measure. The goal is to catch (& hold) the thoughts that help you to feel better. The others are catch & release. The worse they feel, the faster the release.
Going general to see the Macro of who you are and what is an opportunity to breathe and be a little easier on yourself and others. The birds eye view allows for a better selection of thought in the moment to take you where you want to go in life. It is complicated in the best of ways as an indication of just how great you are.

EXERCISE #4: Build A Foundation of 3-6 Minute AM & PM Stillness & Silence Practice...then grow it.
When you are ready to fine tune your awareness of self, move into the 3rd phase where thoughts become the focus of your attention. Thoughts flow within each breath and word, it is possible to adjust the pace and course. Learn to surf the big emotional waves, to catch glimpses of the drops of thought, that make up the oceans that flow, in and out of consciousness.
As you catch a thought or two, look at them for what they are or what they are not doing, for or against you. It is supremely important to develop the habit of putting on lenses of compassion, first. This is the fastest way to accept, release and allow better...when it comes to thoughts, there are plenty of fish in the sea, catch and release till you find your Moby Dick in all areas of your life.
Expand out, of the focus of attention, that are on the contents of thought trains that cause Persecution, to yourself or others. Abraham would say 'go general,' out of the details that hurt. Collapse your attention to focus on the thoughts that feel good, that develop into perspectives of Compassion, first for you, then through you.
The inside out application has the greatest lasting impact on and for all external partners. Similarily, establishing a practice of Stillness & Silence has the greatest lasting impact on and for all internal and external desires and issues. Peace, Freedom, Wellness, Joy...each can be subjectively developed internally.
