Meditation is an Exercise of Neutrality: finding the space of Stillness & Silence…the zero (0), between negative (-) & positive (+).
Meditation is an Exercise of shifting singular attention to general awareness, from being engaged with your life to observing it. Settle down into each breathe as it enters & exits...extend your awareness of the time spent...inhaling…exhaling…& in between...resting at your natural respiratory pause longer with practice.
As you enter quicker & remain longer in states of bliss from the Stillness & Silence, it will feel better to meditate than sleep.
Best practice is to meditate 1st thing after waking, before moving, thinking or feeling more than is necessary.
Its tough to stay awake initially (especially 1st thing)…it gets easier with competence.
Like the gym, consistency is key.
SETUP 4 SUCCESS
Exercising 1st, helps to discharge excess energy…especially useful when first establishing your practice.
Maintain an active journal to to take the charge out of emotions via thought recording . It's a practice of slowing thoughts down to the pace of writing.
After discharging excess physical, emotional & mental energy…Stillness & Silence becomes more attainable and is b/reached sooner, Joy & Bliss rise easier from there.
Select environments for ease, isolation, relaxation...minimization of stimulation. Settle yourself into a comfortable position you can be in for long periods of time. Then…
